WA Retailer of the Year

Market City Retailer of the Year Mr Fresh, Carine is the winner of the Excellence in Potato Retailing award, which is presented by Western Potatoes Limited. Mr Fresh Managing Director Sac Meechamnan said that regular contact by Western Potatoes Ltd’s (WPL) Retail Sales and Development Officer, Justin Wearne, was the key to the store’s enthusiasm in promoting potatoes. Mr Meechamnan said that items like paper bags for consumers to use when purchasing potatoes and clear signage to identify the different varieties helped to boost sales. Justin Wearne said that all retailers were offered point of sale assistance, and Mr Fresh was exceptional in the effective use of the materials supplied by WPL. Western Potatoes Ltd was presented with the inaugural Best Retail Support by a Commodity Group, as voted by about thirty fresh produce retailers, for its outstanding efforts in providing promotional and product training support to fruit and vegetable stores. Excellence in Retailing Awards are judged in conjunction with the Market City Retailer of the Year using criteria which focus on product display and presentation, product range, product quality, and effective use of point of sale material. Retailers are encouraged to present the product in a way that promotes the range of varieties available as well as preparation and cooking ideas, and to incorporate any point of sale material supplied. Market City Retailer of the Year is conducted by the Chamber of Fruit & Vegetable Industries in WA and Perth Market Authority to promote excellence in fresh fruit and vegetable retailing in WA.
